As we embark on a new year I have a confession to make…
I did not lose weight this year.
I am a nutritionist, fitness enthusiast, personal trainer and I did not lose weight.
I work my butt off in the gym, eat healthy 90% of the time, and make my health my priority.
But guess what? I’m okay with that. For 26 years of my life, my goal every year was to lose weight. Last year, that was not my goal.
My goal was to get healthy. I wanted to sleep better, run faster, lift heavier, and feel better.
What did I accomplish this year?
My first strict pull ups, my first handstand, a 2k row PR, a heavier back squat, deadlift, and PR’s across the board with all my lifts.
I sleep better.
I have more energy.
I enjoy my job.
I have sanity with my body and food.
I only got sick twice the entire year.
So yes, I will take all of those improvements over weight loss any day and am really proud that I am able to say that with confidence. Years ago, I sacrificed anything, including my social life, health, and body to be skinny, but not anymore.
I’ll take my health over skinny any day!
