For years I thought changing my body would be the magical cure for my poor body image, but Iโ€™m slowly Iโ€™m learning it will forever be a work in progress for me. โฃ
โฃ
Body image is something I still struggle with. โฃ
Itโ€™s something that creeps in when I get anxious. โฃ
Itโ€™s my coping mechanism when things donโ€™t go my way. โฃ
Itโ€™s my default to focus on when other things are off. โฃ
โฃ
And Iโ€™ve learned no matter how small I get, or how much I grow. I will FOREVER find a flaw. โฃ
โฃ
So I recognize that and am always working towards separating how my body looks from who I AM as a person. โฃ
โฃ
And as I work to be the healthiest version of me on the outside, I work towards becoming the healthiest me on the inside. โฃ
โฃ
Iโ€™m learning new ways to cope. โฃ
Iโ€™m reframing my mindset. โฃ
Iโ€™m choosing to work towards seeing things differently – even if I donโ€™t believe it just yet. โฃ
And quite honestly, Iโ€™m learning to look deeper for the underlying problems triggering my poor body image (it often has nothing to do with my body). โฃ
โฃ
Because if you never work on changing your mindset – the external will never be good enough. โฃ
โฃ

THERAPY. โฃ

Movement is my THERAPY.
โฃ
When I fell in love with dance, I had no idea that it would quickly become the greatest thing I could do for myself and my body. โฃ

I lacked confidence. โฃ
I was plagued by food and an eating disorder. โฃ
But it quickly became the one outlet for my anxiety and self hatred. โฃ
It brought me joy and community during a time when I felt very much alone. โฃ
โฃ
When I fell in love with group fitness it gave me direction during a time when I felt lost. โฃ

I struggled with body image, speaking up for myself, โฃ
It taught me confidence. โฃ
I found my passion. โฃ
โฃ
When I fell in love with strength training it taught me to appreciate my body for what it could do instead of how it looked. โฃ

It taught me strength. โฃ
It helped me fight depression and anxiety. โฃ
It became the outlet that saved me. โฃ
โฃ

It can be really easy to look at someone and assume they NEVER struggle with body image.โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
But Iโ€™d like to argue that almost everyone from time to time has a feeling of wanting to look differently. โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
And Iโ€™ll be totally honest in saying it is likely something I will FORVER battle. โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
It would be really easy for me to tell you that Iโ€™ve completely healed my relationship with food and my body. โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
Announce that Iโ€™ve finally found the confidence Iโ€™ve always wanted and you can too. โฃโฃ
But hereโ€™s the thing… โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
Life is messy. โฃโฃ
โฃโฃ
I will always be working on becoming a better version of myself. โฃโฃ
Of seeing my worth. โฃโฃ
Of battling body image. โฃโฃ
Of tackling anxiety. โฃโฃ

And thatโ€™s okay. Because it’s forever improving.โฃโฃ

I get asked this question at least once a week and I am always 100% honest in saying a big fat NOPE. โฃ
โฃ
I do CrossFit too. I used to feel like I had to hide that, or pretend like I only did 21 Day Challenges at home, but hereโ€™s the deal; I am a HUGE believer of finding what works for YOU and running with it. โฃ
โฃ
For some thatโ€™s the gym, others itโ€™s at home workouts, for everyone it REQUIRES support & community to stick with it. โฃ
โฃ
CrossFit has become my therapy. โฃ
Teaching group fitness classes is part of my job. โฃ
Working out at home has been another added way to improve my results. โฃ
โฃ
And hereโ€™s a really cool fact, when I started incorporating more of the at-home workouts I get my clients set up with, I started seeing huge changes in my body AND my fitness started to improve. โฃ
โฃ
Itโ€™s something I donโ€™t think I share enough and want to be genuinely honest about. โฃ
โฃ
๐…๐จ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐›๐ข๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฒ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ก๐š๐ฌ ๐›๐ž๐ž๐ง ๐๐„๐‘๐…๐„๐‚๐“. โฃ

Which is why I continue to encourage you to find what works for you and stick with it, and it really will be ๐ƒ๐ˆ๐…๐…๐„๐‘๐„๐๐“ for everyone. When I stopped seeing results with my regular routine, I switched things up and added in some of our programs. โฃ

And quite honestly I couldnโ€™t be happier with the results. โฃ
